About Barcode Options
In the Barcode Options dialog box, you can specify the barcode position.
Each position of the barcode is either referenced to the address block or the lower right corner of the mailpiece. The lower right-hand corner position has the most exacting USPS tolerances, so you are encouraged to use the “above” or “below” address block positions to ensure you are always within USPS specifications.
Select the location of your barcodes.
Position options include:
- Lower Right Corner ...MORE The barcode prints in the lower right corner of your envelope, about 1/4 inch from the bottom and starting 4 inches to the left of the right edge. This was the original location for barcodes but is generally not the best choice because it can be difficult to place correctly with some printers. This location is not acceptable on labels.
- Above Address ...MORE The barcode prints before the top line of the delivery address. This location is the preferred location for labels.
- Below Address...MORE The barcode prints below the last line of the delivery address.
- Note: If you are doing an automated bulk mailing, position the barcode above or below the address so that you do not need to put the additional AUTO markings on the envelope.
To access Barcode Options dialog box, see Access Barcode Options.
- Note: Not all layouts have room for all required barcodes. If your layout is too small, use a larger layout.
