Create a Business Reply Mail Layout
Note the following issues concerning Business Reply Mail (BRM):
- You must have an Endicia Premium or Endicia Professional service plan.
- Always verify with your USPS Mailpiece Design Analyst that your mailpiece layout has been properly created. The rules about BRM are very strict, and the US Postal Service may reject BRM mailpieces has not approved your BRM layout.
- Do not use Dial-A-ZIP to look-up BRM ZIP Codes.
- To print Business Reply Mail (BRM) correctly, you must have Envelope Manager LE. If you do not have this application, send an email with your serial or account number and DAZzle version number to tech@envmgr.com. To find your DAZzle version number, select Help > About.

Steps
- From the Design tab, select File > Preferences and then select the View tab.
- On the View tab, select the Force Delivery Address to Capital Letters check box, and click OK.
- Note: The Delivery Address is the destination address, also known as the main address.
- Select File > Open Layout.
- Select and open a BRM layout or any layout with the correct size envelope, label, or card for your purposes.
- If the mailing address:
- Is a valid domestic address, ignore the delivery address, which you will specify later in Envelope Manager.
- Shows “double-click here,” replace that text with any valid domestic address.
- Select Layout > Media, and select your envelope, postcard, or label size, and click OK.
- Select Postage > Options, and select the Rate tab.
- On the Rate tab:
- Select the Print Postage check box.
- Set the class to Business Reply Mail, Business Reply Card, or Business Reply Label.
- Click OK.
- Select Postage > Options, and select the Permit tab.
- Complete the Permit ID by entering “PERMIT NO.” and your permit number.
- Complete the Permit City and State.
- Leave the Mailing Type field blank, and click OK.
- To change the characteristics of the BRM legend, select Postage > Options, and select the Business Reply Mail tab.
- After you have made your changes, click OK.
- Select the Design tab, and:
- Click the Barcode Options button on the toolbar.
- Select the Intelligent Mail® Barcode without Confirm option.
- Select the position that you want.
- Tip! Above or below the address is easier to print correctly.
- Adjust the layout by adding or subtracting elements and repositioning the elements.
- Note: The horizontal bars respond to moving the address.
- Select File > Printer Setup.
- If you are using mechanical artwork to give to a printing department or company:
Select your printer from the list.
This example assumes PDFWriter, but your PDF driver might have some other name. To create a file to send electronically, set the printer to your PDF driver.
- Note: You must set the PDFWriter to use 600 dpi resolution.
- Set the Printer Paper Size to 8.5 x 11 inch or Letter.

Select File > Save Layout As.
- Important! Always verify with your internal support staff where you should save your files to. For example, some backup systems back up data from the My Documents folder.
- Enter a new filename for your layout and click Save.
