How to address mail and packages
When addressing a card or package, you’ll want to write the service member’s full name and include the unit and APO/FPO/DPO address with the 9-digit ZIP code (if assigned). For example:
Army Post Office (APO) | Fleet Post Office (FPO) | Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) |
---|---|---|
PFC JOHN DOE PSC 3 BOX 4120 APO AE 09201 | SEAMAN JOSEPH SMITH UNIT 100100 BOX 4120 FPO AP 96691 | JOHN ADAMS UNIT 8400 BOX 0000 DPO AE 09498-0048 |
Don’t forget to include your return address, and don’t write the country name where the service member is stationed in the address. It’s a good idea to write the service member’s name and address, along with the sender’s name and address, on a piece of paper inside the package in case the shipping label is lost or damaged in transit.
