Create a SELECT Statement
After you have established your data source connection, the Create a SELECT Statement wizard automatically runs to help you create the SELECT statement, which retrieves data from your data source.
The initial SELECT statement uses the Order Number field or equivalent.
- Note: The setup or changes that you make in the following Steps apply only to the current profile.
Steps
- Depending on your data connection setup:
- If your data connection setup is for retrieving order information on the Order Lookup tab:
- Select Edit > Preferences.
- Select the Data Source and Post-Back tab.
Click the Configure button.
The Order Lookup Data Map window appears.
- Continue to Step 2.
- If your data connection setup is for retrieving order information on the Batch Print tab:
- Select the Batch Print tab.
Click the Data Source Setup button.
The Batch Print Data Map window appears.
- Continue to Step 2.
- From either the Order Lookup Data Map or the Batch Print Data Map window, select your named Data Source.
- In the SELECT Statement for Retrieving Data area, click the Guide Me button.
- From the Create a SELECT Statement wizard, click the Next button.
- From the list, select a table or other object according to the type of database source:
- If your database source file is from Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, or Visual FoxPro, select the table name that contains the Order Number field for the SELECT statement.
- If your database source file is a Microsoft Excel file, select the sheet name.
- If your database source file is the one CSV text file, select the file.
- Click the Next button.
- Note: The Order Number field must contain unique values.
- From the list, select the field that corresponds to the Order Number field.
- Click OK to finish the wizard.
- Click OK.
The wizard automatically adds the initial SELECT statement to either the Order Lookup Data Map window or the Batch Print Data Map window. After you have created the SELECT statement to use with Endicia Professional, you can connect your database fields using either the Order Lookup Data Map or the Batch Print Data Map.
