About Correcting Postage Problems

Before you consider requesting a refund, you might be able to correct some problems.

If you print too little postage on a mailpiece (if for instance, you add weight to the mailpiece after printing), you can print additional postage with the amount correction.

The amount correction feature is available on the Corrections tab. For procedures, see Print a Postage Amount Correction.

Wrong date ...MORE

If you have printed the wrong date or the postmark date has passed, use the date correction.

If the postmark date on your mailpiece has passed, you must print a date correction label and affix the date correction label to the back of your envelope. Alternately, you can print the date correction directly on the back of your envelope. For a package or bubble envelope, place the re-dated label next to the original shipping label on the same side of the package as the original label.

Note: Printing on the back of envelopes might not be possible with some printers.

Printer jammed or printing is not clear ...MORE

If your printer jams while you are printing a mailpiece and the postage is not legible, you can reprint that mailpiece the same calendar day.

The reprinted postage is identical in amount, services, and date to the original item.

Important! You must be absolutely certain that you do not mail the original item! The use of false, fictitious, or fraudulent US postage indicia is punishable under the criminal laws of the United States. 18 U.S.C. §1001.
